The Gafford has excellent resistance to scab and foliage pests. Yields are good to excessive. The Gafford produces medium sized nuts with approx. 56 nuts per pound and 50% kernel. It is a moderate quality nut with bright kernels. Auburn University recommends this variety as one of the most pest-free selections they have ever evaluated. Gafford should be cross-pollinated with a Type II pecan tree. More information about planting and growing pecan trees is available from Bass.
